The Entrepreneur’s Source Presents: 7 Service-Based Franchises on the Rise in 2017

The Entrepreneur’s Source Presents: 7 Service-Based Franchises on the Rise in 2017.

From Wall Street to Main Street, 2017 is off to a great start. For those considering taking a dive into franchising, there’s no better time than now. Indices, including the Dow Jones, are breaking record highs, fueled by the prospects of what’s considered a business-friendly political climate.

Coming off an impressive 2016, the International Franchise Association believes 2017 is ripe for entrepreneurs looking to make a big splash with their very own franchise business. The Franchise Business Economic Outlook for 2017 projects the franchise sector is expected to grow faster than the economy in most business lines.   Consider the following key takeaways:

  • The franchise sector accounted for 3% of the US private GDP in 2016 ($450 billion) and is expected to grow by another $36 billion this year.
  • By the end of 2017, the IFA predicts there will be 744,437 franchise locations in the US, representing a 1.6% year over year increase.
  • Franchise business growth is expected to outpace the economy at large for the 7th straight year.

And in an increasingly mobile and technological society, the appeal of affordable, “on-demand,” home-based service businesses continue to grow exponentially.   With each passing year, these service-based businesses represent a larger portion of the franchise establishments in the country as they offer new owners a smaller buy-in with high upside.

Let’s check out seven of these service-based franchise companies that represent fantastic franchise ownership opportunities for alternative career seekers looking to make the jump into business ownership in 2017:

Window Genie

Window Genie is a multi-faceted home services provider specializing in window cleaning, window tinting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning and more. For the last 20 years, franchise partners have been doing the dirty work aimed at improving the look and value of your home.

Why is Window Genie poised for growth in 2017?  With the housing market still in line to carry its momentum in 2017, Window Genie’s services will continue to be in demand by homeowners looking to boost their coveted curb appeal.

Five Star Painting

Five Star Painting is improving the values of homes, one quality stroke at a time. Interior or exterior, paint is one way to enhance the look and feel of your home or business. Five Star Painting covers that aspect of home improvement, as well as pressure cleaning and deck restoration.

Why is Five Star Painting poised for growth in 2017? Home prices across the country are rising. Sellers are looking to spruce up their homes to entice millennials transitioning from renters to homeowners.

College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving

College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving is a franchisor that deserves serious consideration from prospective suitors. As its name implies, the company cleans up your junk and/or moves your prized possessions to new homes. That includes both trash or items up for donation, to providing local and long distance moving services.

Why is College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving poised for growth in 2017? Americans have accumulated a lot of… junk. A recent survey found nearly half of those surveyed admitted their homes were somewhat cluttered with items they no longer use. 41% of Americans reported they haven’t decluttered for over a year. Enter College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving.

Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning

Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning certainly has a fresh approach to keeping homeowners’ carpets clean. It relies on a low moisture method. The company, established in 2006, also offers upholstery, sandless wood floor, and tile and grout cleaning. A commitment to green cleaning methods is keeping its earnings in the black.

Why is Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning poised for growth in 2017? Spending on household services across the nation is expected to jump nearly five percent in 2017. As the economy continues to thrive, homeowners and businesses are more willing to spend money on home cleaning services.

Aussie Pet Mobile

Aussie Pet Mobile is in the cleaning business, the pet cleaning (and grooming) business. Franchisees use a customized van to deliver tender loving care to animals. Millions of dogs and cats in America and across the world are pampered in the comfort of their own homes/driveway.

Why is Aussie Pet Mobile poised for growth in 2017? Consumer spending on services such as Aussie Pet Mobile will pick up in 2017. The IFA projects franchises targeting personal services rank first in growth of the number of establishments (2.3%) and third in employment growth (3.6%).

The Flying Locksmiths

The Flying Locksmiths is the master of the key shop domain. Attention to detail, plus the ability to blend old school ideals with new age tech, allows the company to thrive seven decades after its founding.

Why is The Flying Locksmiths poised for growth in 2017? The anticipated uptick in housing starts will continue to keep locksmiths busy. Plus, analyst predicts another year of strong automotive sales, which will lead to an increased demand for emergency automotive locksmith services.

Enviro-Master Services

Enviro-Master Services is taking hygiene to the extreme. The company provides cleaning services and products for restrooms in public settings, including businesses. One Enviro-Master goal is to prevent the spread of disease and odors while maintaining low service costs for customers.

Why is Enviro-Master Services poised for growth in 2017? Clean facilities are part of a company’s overall brand. Those companies find it more economically feasible to outsource cleaning activities, as opposed to committing valuable resources for an in-house cleaning staff. Enviro-Master certainly fills that void. One analysis projects revenues for contract cleaning services will rise 3.2% annually through 2019.

The Entrepreneur’s Source Prescription to Happiness

The Entrepreneur’s Source Prescription to Happiness – Q&A with Mary Bylone

Until two years ago, Mary Bylone was rolling along comfortably on the journey we call life. The registered nurse, rose through the ranks for four decades, all the way up to a chief executive position at a prominent healthcare system in Connecticut. But changes within the industry had Mary plotting a new course for her life, personally and professionally.

In early 2016, Mary – the owner of four Newfoundlands and two cats – met with Steve Rosenkrantz and The Entrepreneur’s Source®. Steve worked diligently with Mary, emphasizing it’s the vehicle that gets you to your goal. After a three-month process, Steve and Mary determined what best matched her Income, Lifestyle, Wealth, and Equity goals, Aussie Pet Mobile – the leader in mobile pet grooming – was that vehicle. Less than a year in, Mary oversees a staff dedicated to helping pets feel and look good.

We sat down for an exclusive Q&A with Mary to provide some insight and guidance for other career professionals who are considering going into business for themselves. Here’s what she shared with us:

Hi, Mary! Tell us a little about yourself and your career before going into business as a mobile pet groomer

I spent my entire career as a nurse. I was inspired by a nurse who took care of me after I was involved in a motorcycle wreck that kept me in the hospital for weeks. I began my professional career in 1977 as an operating room technician, became a registered nurse in 1980 and gradually worked myself up to become a chief nursing officer. I also was heavily involved with several nursing organizations, including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. So, I spent many days on the lecturing circuit, as a speaker,  and as a consultant.

What was the impetus that sparked your career change?

I have a passion for helping others. But I also have the entrepreneurial spirit lurking inside me. As the industry became focused more on the numbers and less on the people both receiving and providing the help, I wanted out. So, I decided to leave the industry a couple of years ago. However, a quick discussion with my financial planner helped me realize (I was 59 at that time), I didn’t have enough in retirement to live comfortably passed age 70. The plan was further complicated when my wife was laid off from her job as a nurse at another health care system. That caused some lean times, but we survived as a family. The good news, she found a new job after a brief search.

So how did Steve Rosenkrantz and The Entrepreneur’s Source® get you on the pathway toward success?

I took advantage of placement courses that I was referred, and was fortunate to meet Steve. It was his class, “From Employee to Entrepreneur,” that specifically stood out. I became apprehensive when I discovered the class was on franchising. But Steve quickly calmed my fears. Steve and The Entrepreneur’s Source® prioritized the concept of I.L.W.E. (income, lifestyle, wealth and equity) to make informed choices, which fit my goals, needs and expectations. One slide during Steve’s presentation drove the point home. It was a picture of a sports car. The slide read the franchise drives you to your goal. Steve then offered this analogy, “you think the guy who sells porta potties really loves dealing with them? No, he looks at porta potties as the vehicle that’s going to get him to where his goals are.”

Even though I was personally sold on Aussie Pet Mobile early in the process, Steve made sure I reached out and talked to owners of a variety of franchises. The difference is now I’m confident with my choice. Steve made sure I did the proper research. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I am not worried about whether I made the right choice.

What attracted you to Aussie Pet Mobile?

I knew out of the gate I didn’t want a storefront, brick and mortar were out of the question. The fact that I could work with pets appealed to me. I love Aussie Pet Mobile’s business model. They met and surpassed all my listed benchmarks. Their attention to detail is fantastic. I have participated in dog shows, so I am familiar with the equipment. Aussie Pet Mobile uses the top of the line equipment on our clients. We deliver a unique service – hair washes and cuts, skin moisturizing, teeth brushing – to dogs, cats, I’ve even groomed rabbits and a ferret, all in the comfort of the pet owner’s driveway. What ultimately pushed me over the top with Aussie Pet Mobile was their leadership. It impressed me from the beginning.

Thanks, Mary! Any parting words of wisdom for those who are considering making the business ownership career shift?

Owning your own business certainly, has its challenges. But I can get up in the morning, have my cup of coffee, and spend time with my dogs before I begin my day. At first, I was sour on the idea of franchising. But my wonderful interactions with Steve introduced me to a world that I’m glad to be a part of. I think if you’re going to look at a franchise, it’s a necessity to have a franchise coach like Steve at The Entrepreneur’s Source®.

I’m glad I went that route because I’m fully prepared for this new journey. Their plan works. To be honest with you, I can’t say enough good things about the experience I had with The Entrepreneur’s Source®.

The Entrepreneur’s Source Discusses the Power of Franchising and Self-Sufficiency

The Entrepreneur’s Source featured by Entrepreneur Media, Franchising World and Franchising USA, discusses the power of franchising and the importance of self-sufficiency

February was a big month for the The Entrepreneur’s Source®, the nation’s leading alternative career coaching franchise, as the company was featured by three major national business publications – Entrepreneur, Franchising World and Franchising USA.  Two leading representatives from The Entrepreneur’s Source, Visionary Founder Terry Powell and Oklahoma City-based TES Franchise Coach Randy Ingargiola, were included in these stories as leading experts in franchising and successful business ownership.

On February 3, 2017, in the days leading up to Super Bowl LI, Powell and The Entrepreneur’s Source® were featured by Entrepreneur’s Tracy Stapp Herold in her article titled “How Houston-Area Franchises Are Getting Super Bowl Ready.”  The article highlighted a wide variety of Houston-based franchise owners and their game plans to cash in on the Super Bowl.  In his quote, Powell provided analysis on the importance of brand recognition during major events and how it correlates with profits for local franchise owners as tourists flock to town.

“Being comfortable with a familiar franchise brand on a trip away from home takes the unknown out of questions about quality, service, and cleanliness,” said Powell.

The hits kept coming for the nation’s leading alternative career coaching franchise when Franchising USA published a full-length “spotlight on service” showcasing The Entrepreneur’s Source® franchise opportunity in a February edition dedicated to service-based franchise brands.   In the article, titled “Long Time Business Acts as Jumping Off Point for Many Entrepreneurial Journeys,” Franchising USA’s editorial team described the power of franchise coaching and the reasons why tens of thousands of people have relied on the guidance offered by The Entrepreneur’s Source® on their path to self-discovery and self-sufficiency.   Powell said his company’s success hinges on the concept of empowerment – the same guiding principal he’s been using for decades as a career entrepreneur.

“The need for the service is because there is a growing number of the population that keeps reaching out and seeking information, education, awareness, and discovery,” said Powell. “Nobody is really providing that to them in a way that allows them to get beyond their fears and concerns about being a business owner and achieving the dream of being self-sufficient.”

Franchising World  reached out to TES Coach Randy Ingargiola , and  picked his brain for a February edition article titled “Seeking Professional Advice on Franchise Relations: Franchising’s high-achieving franchisees share views on key topics.”   When asked about franchisor support and what he found most beneficial, Ingargiola stated operating one’s own business equates to carefully navigating through a minefield at times, but he praised The Entrepreneur’s Source® for providing invaluable support to his business.

“Franchising done right creates a win-win partnership that has tremendous synergy and ability to move you towards your personal and business goals,” said Ingargiola. “The mission of connecting people to opportunity by helping aspiring entrepreneurs find the franchise that will create that type of synergy with them is also what I find most rewarding in my franchise coaching practice.”
