The Entrepreneur’s Source Presents – Entrepreneurship, a Family Affair

The Entrepreneur’s Source Presents – Entrepreneurship, a Family Affair — Q&A with Connecticut Oxi Fresh Owner Marsha Kulcsar.

The entrepreneurial spirit has always been inside Marsha Kulcsar. Her grandfather was a business owner as was her father. But Marsha pursued, excelled and prospered in a career within the corporate world. Marsha rose through the ranks at a leading insurance provider, but there was always a desire to step out on her own. When downsizing struck, Marsha turned a professional misfortune into a personal opportunity.

In the spring of 2016, with help from Steve Rosenkrantz and The Entrepreneur’s Source®, Marsha found her franchise match with Oxi Fresh — the world’s greenest carpet cleaner®. Though she was unfamiliar with the world of carpet and upholstery cleaning at the time, Marsha is now fully immersed and is enjoying her new career and the priceless time with her family.

We sat down for an exclusive Q&A with Marsha to get some knowledge for other corporate professionals contemplating their next steps on their career journey. Here’s what she shared with us:

Hi, Marsha! Tell us a little about yourself and your career prior to going into business for yourself

I graduated from UConn and immediately landed a job at a major insurance company in Connecticut where I put my accounting degree to use. I eventually worked my way up to become the director of the corporate training department where I utilized my passion for helping others. It was exciting. I got to travel, meet wonderful people, and the company even helped pay for my MBA. Even though I was happy in the corporate world, I was really longing to follow in the footsteps of my father and his father, as they were both entrepreneurs. I remember growing up watching them try and go out and make the sale and pitch the products. In the back of my mind, I wanted a piece of that action.

So, there was always an itch. What made you finally scratch it?

Out of tragedy comes triumph. It began in 2015 when my husband was laid off. During that time, he was introduced to The Entrepreneur’s Source® and Steve Rosenkrantz. I found myself intrigued as my husband talked about Steve’s seminar. Low and behold, a year later, I was among the casualties when my company took part in the restructuring process. But here’s the kicker, I had the same outplacement services as my husband, giving me access to a seminar that Steve was providing.

What was it about Steve Rosenkrantz and The Entrepreneur’s Source® that empowered you with the idea of owning your own franchise?

The idea of being an owner wasn’t a foreign concept, I always considered it. But Steve helped convert that dream into a reality. During my initial meeting, he stressed to always have an open mind when you’re looking at franchising opportunities. Steve and the Entrepreneur’s Source® tailored the process to fit my goals, needs, and expectations based on my I.L.W.E. (income, lifestyle, wealth and equity) principle. He compiled a list of several intriguing businesses, and after careful consideration, I determined Oxi Fresh was a perfect choice.

Why was Oxi Fresh the business that best fit your needs?

I had no previous experiences working in-depth with a carpet cleaning and upholstery business. I went into the decision-making process with an open mind. Oxi Fresh was the only business that met all my requirements. And, Steve was a proponent of Oxi Fresh’s corporate structure as well as the culture. I confirmed it myself during a visit to the headquarters in Colorado. Everyone was courteous, genuine, and helpful. I also liked the challenge of being the first franchisee in Connecticut. I was taking something that was a proven model in other parts of the country and seeing if I could make it work in Connecticut. And people have been quite receptive of this concept. Besides providing superior customer service, Oxi Fresh’s commitment to water.org, an international organization that provides access to clean water across the globe, aligns with my core values to give back to the community.

How has your life changed since becoming an Oxi Fresh franchise owner?

My family says they’ve never seen me this happy. I can’t tell you just how much more relaxed I am with my new lifestyle compared to life in the corporate world. My daughter is a freshman in high school. Being a business owner has afforded me the ability to adjust my schedule so I can attend her school and sports activities, and simply keep a closer eye on her. Oxi Fresh has also allowed me to spend more time with my father. He’s out there helping me at job sites, turning equipment, vacuuming, whatever needs to be done. He’s always happy to be riding shotgun in my little van right now; it’s fun!

Great! Before we let you go, do you have any advice for people considering joining the entrepreneurial ranks?

You should know that it’s going to be a challenge. I can’t say I have had a profit every month but the positives have outweighed the negatives, and I’m really pleased with the results. I recommend beginning the process with The Entrepreneur’s Source®. Having a coach like Steve to help me see the possibilities was helpful to me. It really opened my eyes to different franchising opportunities that I would not have been able to find on my own. Having as many people in your corner fighting for you is important, and I highly recommend it.

The Entrepreneur’s Source Reviews the 5 Steps to Uncovering Your Primary Aim

5 Steps to Uncovering Your Primary Aim with the Help of The Entrepreneur’s Source.

If you feel fulfilled and that you’re living life with purpose, then you have found your Primary Aim. Your Primary Aim is your innermost driving force – it is what gives you a sense of direction and purpose. It motives you to your highest level of energy and sustains you over the long haul. Your Primary Aim is the source of the vitality, commitment and vision you need to get the most out of your life and your career.

However, the vast majority of individuals aren’t in touch with their Primary Aim. It’s there, within all of us, but most of us simply haven’t taken the time to identify it. Some of us may even avoid it because we know we would then be compelled to execute on it. Your Primary Aim is a matter of discovery, not invention. You don’t create your Primary Aim; it already exists within you.

Are you looking to uncover your Primary Aim so you can actively shape your life and career rather than passively accepting whatever joy and pain happens to come your way? Today, The Entrepreneur’s Source reviews the five step process of uncovering your Primary Aim so you can start playing an active role in shaping your future, creating your happiness and experiencing success.

The 5 Step Process to Finding Your Primary Aim
For most of us, the process of uncovering our Primary Aim involves finding new ways of looking at ourselves and our lives. It answers questions about our core values, beliefs and dreams. The process requires you to look inward and get in touch with your feelings to guide you to find what truly is important to you.

To start getting in tune with uncovering your Primary Aim, follow these five steps:

1. Identify what you don’t want.

Begin the process by creating a list of what you don’t want any longer in your life. Once you’re done listing all of these items, read through your list carefully and be aware of the feelings that each specific item brings up. Circle the items (narrow it down to 1-6) that trigger the strongest negative emotions for you.

2. Recognize what you do want.

Next, create the opposite list of what you did in step one. Start writing down the elements that you do want in your life. Stay away from material things and money and instead focus on non-tangible items. Once you’ve completed your list, read through and circle the items (narrow it down 1-6 items) you most want to be a part of your life and that bring the strongest feelings of happiness.

3. Prioritize and Break Barriers.

Create a new list of these most-important items from your “do” list and rank them from the most important to the least important. Read through each item and brainstorm the barriers that get in the way of you achieving them. Write these barriers down next to the item. This step will help you better visualize and prioritize how you can achieve these goals. It’s important to be aware of limiting beliefs. As Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, either way you are right.”

4. Write Your Eulogy

This may feel a little funny at first, but think of the far-off day in your future when you’re gone and all of your friends and family are assembled at your memorial. What do you want your eulogy to say? Write down what you wish others remembered you for and what others said about you once you’re gone.

5. Assemble Your Primary Aim

Write a statement of the essence of your Primary Aim. This should be a single sentence that describes what you want your life to be like in order for it to express what’s most important to you. It should make you feel energized, enthusiastic and committed. Keep re-writing until your final statement makes you feel this way.

Congratulations! After following these five steps, you should have established you Primary Aim! However, uncovering your Primary Aim is just the first step in moving from Employment to Empowerment.

Once your Primary Aim is uncovered, it’s time to bring your Primary Aim to life! This is where a coach can be of great benefit to you. Alternative career coaches at The Entrepreneurs Source are like tour guide, helping you through your self-discovery process. A coach doesn’t provide all of the answers to you, he or she asks the questions to facilitate the process of self-discovery. The Entrepreneur’s Source Reviews 4 “F-Words” That Will Empower You

“F Words” Alternative Career Seekers Can Use to Achieve Self-Sufficiency as Entrepreneurs

Nothing worth doing is ever easy, especially when it comes to pursuing a dream. Ask Thomas Edison. It took him 1,000 attempts to invent the light bulb!

For many of us, dreaming of wanting more than the desk, in a “cube farm”, is just that: a dream. We want to run our own business, have more control of our lives, and enjoy the rewards those things can bring, but there are too many “F Words” holding us back.

The Entrepreneur’s Source acknowledges these four “F Words” to blocking people from attaining their goal of self-sufficiency. Maybe there’s one or more you identify with:

Frustration – The unfulfilling nature of your job is a constant source of angst, or just feeling underappreciated can wear on anyone, even you.

Fear – Walking away from a career which pays the bills is daunting, but compare that with the anxiety of lurking job cuts. Could you be next?

Financial Constraints – Yes, you really want a change, but where will the money come from for you to take the route of owning your own business?

Family and Friends - If THEY think the risk is too great, then it must be. If you don’t have their support, there’s no way you can make it.

Together, these words, and the negativity they carry, can be a formidable force preventing people from getting out of their rut, and attempting to better themselves.

There’s no question you must overcome fears and weigh ALL aspects of owning your own business before turning in your notice to the boss.   However, let’s also consider four other “F Words” that provide a more positive environment to grow your dreams of business ownership and self-sufficiency.

Let’s flip those four debilitating fears above into four “F-words” built to empower your pursuit of self-sufficiency as an entrepreneur:

Focus – It’s a laser-like dedication to finding ways to build a stairway up and out of your current rut. To creating real goals, with real plans, and not depending on the drifting target of “someday” to be your ticket.

Freedom – Imagine yourself NOT being tethered to a desk in a dead-end job. The sensation might be something like dropping a pack full of rocks off your back!  Becoming an entrepreneur, means YOU chart the course, YOU make the decisions, YOU enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Fortitude – Yes, it takes some real guts to reject the norm, move out of your lane, and into an opportunity YOU create.  But if you’ve done your homework, have expert input and preparation, the strength you find in YOURSELF may be all you need to take that step!

Future –   It’s all up to you if you want to be bold enough to take ownership of your work/life, and have more control over both. Here’s a test: imagine your future in the job you have today. Now, imagine your future if YOU are holding the reins, being a true entrepreneur. Which would you choose?

Acknowledging objections, while avoiding “analysis paralysis” to find SOLUTIONS, is the key. Remembering the right “F Words” in your search for a better life just might be the trigger you need to be your own boss.

Are you ready to get started?   If so, we’ve got your back at The Entrepreneur’s Source.   Get started on your path by embracing the positive “F Words” with one of our coaches through education, awareness and discovery.
